Study Shows Polycom Leads Global Video Conferencing Market
PLEASANTON Calif. - Oct. 15, 2009 - Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), the global leader in telepresence, video and voice communication solutions, today announced that in a recent research note "Videoconferencing - By The Numbers," leading analyst firm Wainhouse Research ranks Polycom as the global leader for total installed group systems as of July 2009, with an estimated 41 percent market share. The research note also reports that Polycom was the leading supplier for global video conferencing systems shipped during first half 2009, with 35 percent market share.
The Wainhouse Research market share figures are based on all group video conferencing systems, including executive "all in one" systems, HD video conferencing systems, and telepresence systems. The figures do not include videophones and PC software solutions.
Wainhouse Research findings also suggest that purchases of new video conferencing solutions were less affected by the current economic environment than other industries. "Organizations are recognizing that video conferencing and telepresence solutions address many key business challenges such as reducing costs, increasing employee efficiency and improving collaboration," said Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of video solutions at Polycom. "Polycom's portfolio offers solutions to meet the needs of customers, from small businesses to Fortune 50 companies."
Polycom continues its focus on transforming traditional videoconferencing into a visual communication experience, with solutions ranging from the personal desktop to flexible room solutions to fully immersive telepresence solutions. All Polycom solutions are based on industry-leading, standards-compliant technology and interoperate at the highest possible quality levels.
