Polycom Delivers New Solutions to Mainstream Video Collaboration
oPolycom has announced enhancements to its ReadiManager® SE200 conference management and scheduling solution and V2IUTM network address translation (NAT)/firewall traversal solution, thereby simplifying conference deployment, management and scheduling as well as expanding secure video conferencing outside an organization's network.
"As video collaboration becomes mainstream and bandwidth-intensive HD video applications are introduced to the enterprise, organizations need integrated systems to effectively manage, control and secure video traffic on their networks," said Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of video solutions at Polycom. "Only Polycom provides truly comprehensive solutions for HD video applications that operate seamlessly across IP networks."
ReadiManager SE200 and V2IU are part of the industry's only integrated and complete HD video collaboration portfolio, including HD video endpoints and systems, HD conferencing bridges, HD recording, streaming and playback systems (for voice, video and content), HD video content management, telepresence and immersive telepresence solutions, as well as integrated Polycom HD Voice endpoints. To assist customers deploying HD video conferencing, Polycom Global Services offers a comprehensive suite of HD Readiness services through channel partners -- from planning and design to evaluating and optimizing HD video performance on existing networks as well as standard maintenance, training and service options.
ReadiManager SE200 Version 3.0 provides network administrators a highly scalable and reliable single point of control from which to manage their conferencing and collaboration resources. It addresses conference management, gatekeeping, device control and the deployment and maintenance of video conferencing endpoints and multipoint conferencing bridges from a fully integrated management platform. It also offers end users simplified conference scheduling through IBM Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook or a web-based interface, accessible from PC or Macintosh-based browsers. Enhancements in Version 3.0 include greater scalability to support broad deployments of thousands of desktop and room-based video conferencing systems, a brand new management interface with support for multiple languages and easy-to-access dashboard views, and system redundancy with automatic failover to ensure greater reliability of management resources. ReadiManager SE200 is also the only network management application that can manage Polycom RMX 2000TM real-time media conferencing platforms and Polycom HDXTM high definition video conferencing systems today.
Polycom V2IU NAT/firewall traversal solutions allow enterprises to securely communicate via video over virtual private networks (VPNs) and the Internet. The Polycom V2IU NAT/firewall traversal solution replaces or works in conjunction with an organization's existing firewall by providing a trusted route through any corporate firewall. It also optimizes video quality by prioritizing video traffic over data traffic and providing both shortest path routing and traffic shaping. Polycom V2IU NAT/firewall traversal devices are fully compliant with the IT-T H.460 standard, allowing remote users to seamlessly connect without the need for additional local hardware.
New enhancements to V2IU include an IPv4 to IPv6 Application Layer Gateway (ALG) to help customers cost-effectively migrate to IPv6 while leveraging existing investments in Polycom video conference systems and conference bridges. The IPv4 to IPv6 ALG provides conversion services and controls messages between the two standards, enabling IPv6 and IPv4 conferencing components to communicate directly with one another. This solution is applicable for H.323 and SIP, operates in mixed IPv4 and IPv6 environments and does not require hardware upgrades to Polycom endpoints, bridges or third-party endpoints and bridges.
To support customer deployments, Polycom and its channel partners offer a complete portfolio of service offerings including implementation, support services, training and flexible professional service offerings to optimize video conferencing networks and to ensure the best possible customer experience. The combination of services provided through channels can dramatically improve adoption, use, and overall customer satisfaction and help customers get the maximum benefits from their investments.
