New approach by Talk & Vision helps bridge the gap between people and technology

Wednesday 29 June 2011
Linschoten, the Netherlands, 28 June 2011 - Talk & Vision, independent specialist in visual communications and managed video services, introduces In Touch, a new methodology that provides insight into collaborative structures within businesses, enabling a better fit between people and technological solutions. This way, In Touch helps to justify investments in collaboration technology, while improving teamwork and collaborative productivity. In turn, improved collaboration significantly accelerates return on investment and contributes to the company's strategic objectives.

Today's business environment is rapidly changing and becoming ever more complex. While smooth collaboration can help companies make the difference, selecting the right solution is difficult because of the multitude of collaboration solutions offered in the market. The In Touch methodology starts with analysing the collaboration network, followed by an inventory of the company culture, IT environment, workforce and organisation structure. The outcomes are translated into a practical, end user-focused Usage & Adoption programme consisting of technological solutions that seamlessly align with the company's way of working. In Touch has been successfully tested within various organisations including Arcelor Mittal.

Martijn Blokland, sales director and founder of In Touch, explains: "In our In Touch approach, the organisation and the way people collaborate are leading. The next step is to select the technological tools to support operational processes. Other solutions work the other way around: the technology is selected and implemented first, which often hinders acceptance as the solution doesn't match the needs or expectations of the end users or indeed the organisation itself." Jeroen van der Velden, working with Distant Teamwork and Nyenrode Business University, adds: "Optimal use of new communication technologies always depends on the people who use it and the collaborative structure in which they operate. Insight in these factors is critical for success."

Debby Kappetijn, consultant In Touch at Talk & Vision, says: "In Touch seamlessly meets the needs of today's business environment and is the logical outcome of the development process that Talk & Vision has pursued during the past 13 years. We have grown from hardware provider to a managed services provider (MAVIS), and In Touch is the logical next step. Collaborative technology is no longer deployed with the sole objective of cost reduction but increasingly to enable more efficient teamworking and contribute to achieving strategic goals. That's why our new methodology fosters broader acceptance of the various technological tools available. Videoconferencing is just one of them."
