Economic downturn has positive effect on demand for videoconferencing

Thursday 5 February 2009

London, February 2009 - Talk & Vision, specialist in visual communication, has seen a rise in demand for video communication products and services. Companies are mainly interested in lease options and specify cost reduction as the most important purchase argument. Talk & Vision's response to the increased demand is MAVIS, a service package that enables companies to outsource the purchase, management and maintenance of all their videoconferencing activities to Talk & Vision. Contracts were recently signed for the full outsourcing of videoconferencing with a major energy supplier and the Dutch headquarters of a large manufacturer of AV and IT products. Talk & Vision's partners have also indicated a clear increase in demand for their products.

Martijn Blokland, Sales Director at Talk & Vision: 'Just a few years ago, videoconferencing was seen as a luxury and a major investment. Companies are slowly becoming aware of how videoconferencing can help them reduce costs. Even companies where only one person travels abroad once a month benefit from a videoconferencing system. The lease option enables companies to spread the cost over a certain period and still use the most advanced technology. In addition to leasing the hardware, companies also choose our Managed Video Services (MAVIS), which gives them a clear picture of the costs of videoconferencing up front. The indirect advantages of using videoconferencing, such as an improved balance between work and free time, are an additional benefit.'

The desire to reduce travel costs is not the only thing that explains the increasing demand for videoconferencing systems. Efficient communication and the reduction of CO2 emissions within the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility are also important factors.
