Unified Communications
Unified communications (UC) is a single solution offering integration of real-time communication services, such as instant messaging, presence information, telephony, visual communication, call control and speech recognition, with non-real-time communication services, such as voice mail, e-mail, SMS and fax. UC is not a single product, but a set of products that provide a consistent unified user interface and user experience across multiple devices and media types.
When it comes to the technologies being implemented, rich conferencing (audio, video and web) is the most popular approach to unified communications, followed by a voice-oriented approach. Some businesses also choose an e-mail-centric or instant messaging-centric approach to UC, depending on needs and priorities.
Business-quality visual communication plays an important role in many unified communications strategies. The integration of both will enrich the total visual communication experience for your organization, without creating communication islands. Interoperability between business-quality visual communication in your conference rooms and desktop users at the office, at home or on the move offers endless possibilities and will benefit all aspects of your business.
UC typically has a fully automated approach and an ad-hoc character. Business-quality visual communication typically has a more scheduled approach and users do not have to worry about the technology, as it is usually combined with a Managed Video Service.
As part of the KPN/Getronics family, Talk & Vision is in a position to bring you the best of both worlds. An example of our cooperation is the support of our visual communication solutions in the Microsoft Lync / OCS proposition offered by KPN.
We will be happy to sit with you and discuss your unified communication strategy and advise you on implementing a tailored, fully integrated UC solution.
